Gangwon-do, Ministry of Science and Technology data safe zone designation for health and medical data utilization

Gangwon Province (Governor Kim Jin-tae) announced on the 24th that the 'Data Safe Zone' established through the Gangwon Precision Medical Industry Regulation Free Zone Project was designated as a 'Data Safe Zone' by the Ministry of Science and ICT (hereinafter the Ministry of Science and Technology). span>
The Minister of Science and Technology and the heads of related central administrative agencies are designated as technical, physical, and managerial security measures in accordance with Article 11 of the Data Industry Act and Article 12 of the Enforcement Decree of the same Act, which took effect on April 20 last year. If this is satisfied, a data safe zone can be designated. Gangwon-do meets the designation requirements in all six areas, including facility/space and organizational composition, equipment/system, security measures established, and operation/use policies and procedures determined by designation standards.
Gangwon-do, which was designated as a 'precision medical industry regulation-free special zone' by the government last year, cooperated with Chuncheon, Gangwon-do to support safe analysis and utilization of sensitive health and medical data without leakage. One each was established in Wonju.
In the 'Data Safe Zone', Gangwon Technopark together with Gangwon-do is in charge of physical security and administrative security system, and Duzon Bizon is in charge of cloud-based security.
The Data Safety Zone can be used by demonstration companies in the Precision Medical Regulation Free Zone until the duration of the demonstration project. In the future, it will be used as a space for start-ups and big data provision for fostering the precision medical big data industry. has been designated as Gangwon-do aims to additionally designate the Wonju data safe zone within the scope of designation within this year.
