Indoor air quality management is emerging as an important topic in the building operations and construction industries. Chronic problems in modern times include increased concentrations of harmful substances in indoor spaces, lack of ventilation, and microbial growth. In particular, indoor air quality directly affects the health and comfort of building users, and can even be said to be directly linked to productivity.

Due to the spread of infectious diseases such as the previous coronavirus pandemic, indoor air quality is becoming more important, and industrial response and technological development are rapidly being promoted. In this trend, EMB deals with TFT LCD solutions and other IT devices along with hazardous environment measurement devices. We met with Yoon Hyeong-sang, CEO of EMB, which aims to serve and dedicate itself to the public through various devices, and heard more details.

Please introduce your company

EMB started as a private business in 2008 and converted to a corporation in 2014. At first, we mainly developed display TFT LCD solutions, and then gradually developed knee compressors with near-infrared heating functions and multi-pads with pain relief functions. And since four years ago, we have been continuously developing a hazardous environment measuring instrument and branding it our own. Currently, the company has about 25 employees evenly distributed, ranging in age from their 20s to their 60s. Through this, it has the advantage of being able to operate in harmony with the strengths of each era.

We are developing our business because we think it would be good to improve inconveniences in various areas of daily life, and if we continue to develop these products in the future, we will be able to respond to the growth of the wellness market that improves the quality of life. So, by developing these healthcare products, we can prepare for a growing market and predict the future of product lines that improve the quality of life.

Just as it pursues universal effectiveness for humanity, EMB also has two axes. One major axis is customer focus. We are striving to provide an impression that goes beyond customer satisfaction, and are moving from a B2B company to a B2C consumer with a focus on customers. The other axis is the pursuit of human convenience. If the product I created can contribute even a little to the convenience of mankind, I think this will be a small act of dedication and service.

Please explain your main business

Currently, the company is focusing its business on devices for indoor air quality. Recently, the issue of managing indoor air quality in kindergartens and daycare centers has seemed very socially important. I think that if one person catches a cold or a contagious disease, there is a great social loss because the probability of spreading it to people around them increases. EMB has been developing a hazardous environment measuring device for four years to measure and improve indoor air to prevent it in advance.

Through these efforts, EMB's hazardous environment measuring device is able to measure ultrafine dust.The simple measuring device, simple carbon monoxide measuring device, and simple measuring device for carbon dioxide received ‘Grade 1 certification’ from the Ministry of Environment. We are the first company in Korea to receive three first-class ratings for one product, and we are proud of our advanced technology.

In addition, the enforcement rules of the Indoor Air Quality Management Act have been strengthened by Ordinance of the Ministry of Environment since February 17 of this year. Accordingly, as interest in indoor air quality is increasing in Korea, we believe that interest in and response to our terminals will increase in the market.

In addition, we are challenging various fields such as the aforementioned TFT LCD solution, infrared heated knee compressor, and multi-pad, as well as server and mobile linkage control functions for hazardous environment measuring devices, vehicle carbon dioxide alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, and volatile organic compound alarms. . We are actively conducting business, including 4 patent registrations, 4 design registrations, 1 trademark registration, 5 domestic patent applications, 3 overseas applications, and 3 trademark applications. Through this, I think EMB is trying to approach the public in a friendly way.

EMB is taking on the challenge to establish itself as a leader in the air quality industry by moving from display solutions to focusing on indoor air quality measuring instruments. Harmful environment measuring devices detect and warn of harmful substances from the environment, and we plan to continuously release products to the market to enjoy a pleasant environment in our lives through solutions.

In addition, in the long term, we will move into the silver CARE business as we enter the silver era. Currently, there are many good silver products in Korea, but our company will introduce products by paying attention to even the smallest details. We plan to expand and expand from our pain-relieving medical devices to the functional luxury bed market that can be used while sleeping. Accordingly, we want to remain as a brand for a healthy and comfortable life through our products by upgrading the bed market. In the future, we will continue to show customers what they need so that they can meet new products.
