위의 공냉식 프리쿨링 냉동기는 항온항습기(FWU,CRAH,CRAC)에 차가운 냉수를 공급해주는 장비입니다.

여기서 말하는 프리쿨링은 외기온도가 일정온도 이하일때 콤프레샤를 가동하지 않고 냉동기를 작동시키는 기능입니다.

프리쿨링 냉동기는 소비전력을 감소시켜 데이터센터의 PUE를 낮추는 장점을 갖고있습니다.
