SPS(Separate Panel Shield) 공법은 분할형패널을 적용하여 협소한 공간 및 굴절부에서 확폭을 최소화하고 발진작업구 면적을 감소시켜 시공성, 안전성 및 경제성이 매우 우수한 공법이다.
기존 시공에서는 사공간과다와 발진작업구의 낭비가 심하고 확폭시 틈새 발생으로 누수 및 침하가 발생하는 반면, SPS공법으로 90° 및 곡선 선형 시공이 가능해지고 안정성과 효율성이 극대화됐다. 대단면 굴착에서는 PLATE 제약으로 지반 이완이 발생되었는데, 분할굴착으로 지반이완이 최소화 되는 효과를 볼 수 있다.
